<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;">I hit the big 6 - 0 a couple of weeks ago. It was a great birthday, with the most family in one place in a long time. Also the most people in our home since we moved here. Bill spent the day before making lasagna and it was a big hit. Physically, I feel great, but when I think about my parents at sixty.....I thought they were really old.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;">Sooooo, back to work. Two online shows in November and more critters for the Bear Scout. </span></span>Nancy Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08420082141229774913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3981858634466281697.post-47424243660357043682013-07-15T11:47:00.000-07:002013-07-15T11:47:06.900-07:00Christmas Treasures Show<br />

<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;">Now it's really time to get going on Christmas creations. I have been accepted to participate in the Teddies Worldwide Christmas Treasures online show. The preview and voting for Collector's Choice will begin Nov 1st with the show taking place Nov 15th - 17th. I have a couple of cool ideas in my head....just waiting for stores to put out their Christmas fabrics. Teddies Worldwide shows are always excellent and I am really looking forward to this one.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;">Meanwhile, a bunch of mini dogs and a couple of black cats are on their way to the Bear Scout for her next show.</span></span><br />

<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The mocking birds keep making nests on our back porch. I have to duck to keep from being buzzed if I go out there. Another sign of Spring/Summer is the wet season has arrived here in Florida. We are experiencing the first tropical storm of the season with heavy rain and tornado warnings through out the day. But... it's time to make Christmas critters. The magazines need photos by August and I have an online show in November. The current humidity is not helping me get in the mood.</span></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I have been selling some items on ebay and etsy. <span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;">Whew! It's been a long time since I have posted. I was bus<span style="font-size: large;">y making some cats and dogs to send to <span style="font-size: large;">The Bear Scout. Felicia Hymer is the Bear Scout. She takes <span style="font-size: large;">Teddy bears and other critters to shows and shops <span style="font-size: large;">made by artists from all o<span style="font-size: large;">ver the world. Recently I went to the big doll and bear show, IDEX, in Orlando. <span style="font-size: large;">I had the pleasure of meeting Felicia there and showed her some photos of my work. So a box of 11 dog<span style="font-size: large;">s and cats are now in St Louis<span style="font-size: large;">, ready for the Brightstar show on Sunday the 19th. I wil<span style="font-size: large;">l post<span style="font-size: large;"> more</span> pictures on my facebook page this weekend.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span><br />

<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;">The last couple of weeks I decided I needed to use up <span style="font-size: large;">most of my mohair stash before I ordered more. As for the plan <span style="font-size: large;">to use up my mohair stash before ordering more.....<span style="font-size: large;">fail. Put in an order yesterday. </span></span></span></span></span></span>Nancy Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08420082141229774913noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3981858634466281697.post-80912896767405649952013-04-02T17:10:00.000-07:002013-04-02T17:10:31.605-07:00Bebe has new shoes...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Shoes for bear<span style="font-size: large;">s have been on my mind. Wanting to make shoes for upcoming creations<span style="font-size: large;">, I decided to make so<span style="font-size: large;">me for a bear that is still wai<span style="font-size: large;">ting to be <span style="font-size: large;">ad<span style="font-size: large;">opted. Bebe <span style="font-size: large;">looked like she could use <span style="font-size: large;">som<span style="font-size: large;">e booties. I used a <span style="font-size: large;">Simplicity pattern for felt baby shoes as a guideline. Pulling out some craft felt to experiment with, it took<span style="font-size: large;"> several tr<span style="font-size: large;">ies. Now Bebe has some yellow felt booties. Now<span style="font-size: large;">, to translate the pattern to some smaller feet as the new creations will <span style="font-size: large;">not be as big as Bebe. I also have to update the photos of her on Bear Pile.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span>Nancy Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08420082141229774913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3981858634466281697.post-3892086578497543652013-03-27T10:41:00.000-07:002013-03-27T10:41:30.525-07:00After the show and a special order puppy<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Well three out of <span style="font-size: large;">five bears are on their way to new homes. <span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;">Yes, I know I am supposed to <span style="font-size: large;">be making critters for upcoming shows. I<span style="font-size: large;">t took a couple of weeks to get everything together. Even after starting this project I had to go back for more supplies. My niece's baby girl, Annabelle, is due the first week of Feb. Rather than the <span style="font-size: large;">Winnie the Pooh cover on the infant car seat, my niece has deci<span style="font-size: large;">ded she wants pink John Deere. After p<span style="font-size: large;">ricing <span style="font-size: large;">a custom ma<span style="font-size: large;">de cover on etsy<span style="font-size: large;">, she messaged me<span style="font-size: large;">, asking <span style="font-size: large;">if I could make one. She <span style="font-size: large;">took the cover and canopy of<span style="font-size: large;">f the car seat and sent them to me. <span style="font-size: large;">I <span style="font-size: large;">knew right away it wasn't going to be as easy as I though<span style="font-size: large;">t. I used wrapping paper and the Winnie seat cover to make a pattern.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The John Deere cover needs to go over the Winnie cover because it has the proper padding<span style="font-size: large;">. <span style="font-size: large;">The John <span style="font-size: large;">Deere material is a one way design so all the tractors ha<span style="font-size: large;">ve to go in the right direction.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span><br />

<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;">Today has been the <span style="font-size: large;">day for taking down Christmas. I am sad to see the tree come down. I could just sit and stare a<span style="font-size: large;">t the decorated tree and it's <span style="font-size: large;">twinkling lights, especially at night when the rest of the house is dark. Not sure why it makes me so happy, maybe because I only have wonderful m<span style="font-size: large;">emories of Christmas. </span></span></span></span></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;">That said, by the new year I am ready to start anew. <span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;">I love this time of year! The gifts are all wrapped and there will be a little more baking tomorrow but it's time to relax and ju<span style="font-size: large;">st enjoy Christmas. I made 4 tutus and several batche<span style="font-size: large;">s </span>of fudge. They were sent off last week. We will spen<span style="font-size: large;">d Christmas with family nearby.</span></span></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;">Soon it will be time to start s<span style="font-size: large;">ewin<span style="font-size: large;">g for a couple of upcoming shows. <span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;">The weather was beautif<span style="font-size: large;">ul and the sales were plenty. I purchased several Christmas items to resell at the flea market. A couple of great finds will be on ebay this week. Some little vintage bone china angels and a vintage cardboard church in it's original box. After a little res<span style="font-size: large;">earch<span style="font-size: large;">, I learned the cardboard glittery bui<span style="font-size: large;">lding<span style="font-size: large;">s</span> are called <span style="font-size: large;">Putz. When I picked her up I knew she was a good bear but she was wearing a shirt that covered her tags. She came home with me for $1 and I didn't discover she was a Hermann until I got her home. I<span style="font-size: large;">'m thinking she might stay here awhile.</span> </span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span>Nancy Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08420082141229774913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3981858634466281697.post-67285030420226345172012-11-25T16:15:00.001-08:002012-11-25T16:15:39.863-08:00The Fire Chief<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;">I finally got around to cr<span style="font-size: large;">eating a fireman and his dog to go with the cute fire engine found at a sale. <br />Shaunessy and his dog<span style="font-size: large;">, Sparky, are ready for a para<span style="font-size: large;">de. <span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;">T<span style="font-size: large;">his little dog got it's name because I was watching coverage of the <span style="font-size: large;">sto<span style="font-size: large;">rm while sewing<span style="font-size: large;">. Sandy was designed to sit and is only 6 inche<span style="font-size: large;">s tall, not including that perky ear. I'm pleased with the way Sandy turned out and there will probably be more puppies headed to Tampa with me in Fe<span style="font-size: large;">bruary. Couldn't decide which background was best<span style="font-size: large;">. Which do you think: <span style="font-size: large;">blue or black?</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;">There are still a couple of proj<span style="font-size: large;">ects frustrating me. The monkey I me<span style="font-size: large;">n<span style="font-size: large;">tioned several post<span style="font-size: large;">s ago had been put away for several weeks. One head has already been re<span style="font-size: large;">jected and <span style="font-size: large;">I'm not happy with the second. He is supposed to have a needle felted face. <span style="font-size: large;">I learned <span style="font-size: large;">about needle felted faces in a cl<span style="font-size: large;">ass taught online by Judi Paul. She taught that you have to think from the end. After looking at many<span style="font-size: large;">, <span style="font-size: large;">many<span style="font-size: large;"> monkey faces <span style="font-size: large;">visualizing the end result escapes me. So it was best to put him away for awhile. I also ran into a p<span style="font-size: large;">roblem with the <span style="font-size: large;">bear I am currently working on. He has had 2 different heads. After making the sec<span style="font-size: large;">ond I went back to the first and narrowed the center gu<span style="font-size: large;">sset. Not sure why I am struggling so much<span style="font-size: large;"> and I sometimes w<span style="font-size: large;">onder <span style="font-size: large;">if other bear <span style="font-size: large;">makers <span style="font-size: large;">also have these troubles.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span><br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEQYMCiaN0s5h2qOyuyT-eXVt6pKnDwdqXc5CmLAeg1YQg53Y0l0uPGcc63xCIYtZzm4072DwmkWX7wekI5JrkiUPnx2AoQffQ7mmFdnNqmDUgQ3KXzeunbl5uzt4tVKzCfjHYe9tYSKiM/s1600/orange+bucket+pincushion.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEQYMCiaN0s5h2qOyuyT-eXVt6pKnDwdqXc5CmLAeg1YQg53Y0l0uPGcc63xCIYtZzm4072DwmkWX7wekI5JrkiUPnx2AoQffQ7mmFdnNqmDUgQ3KXzeunbl5uzt4tVKzCfjHYe9tYSKiM/s320/orange+bucket+pincushion.jpg" width="262" /></a></div>
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I found this cute little pail at Target and immediately envisioned a <span style="font-size: large;">pincushion with a felt turkey perched on top. After working most of the weekend I gave up on the turkey. The only part I was happy with was the tail feathers. Next<span style="font-size: large;">, I thought an owl. Another day gone with <span style="font-size: large;">unsatisfactory</span> results. Two partially completed owls and neither looked right. Wrong colors and w<span style="font-size: large;">ron<span style="font-size: large;">g dimensions. So I did something I learned a long time ago. I put it away. Then got out some mohair and cut out something I'm sure of....a little dog. It is almost comple<span style="font-size: large;">te and I now I fe<span style="font-size: large;">el like I have accomplished something.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span>Nancy Dhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08420082141229774913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3981858634466281697.post-74200433594646564282012-10-25T08:10:00.002-07:002012-10-25T08:10:58.739-07:00Xander the Brave<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
