The show is on!

The Teddies Worldwide show started yesterday evening and last until 4pm NY time tomorrow(Sun 24th). Brownie has been adopted but as of now my other 4 bears are available. Patina and Seraphina are fairy princesses. Lillyann is all ready for Easter Sunday. Little Buddy comes with a wardrobe and a carrying case. Raewyn a Fairy Bear

Raewyn is a gift for a friend that collects fairies. I had a lot of fun making her. The fur is from Sassy Bears and Fabrics. It is the first time I ordered fur from there. The fur is specifically for miniatures bears and is synthetic, kind of like upholstery velvet. It was wonderful to work with and I am currently working on another small bear in a tan color. Raewyn is 4 1/2" sitting(she was made to sit), her eyes are hand painted and her paws are ultrasuede. Her wings were purchased from JTBCREATIONS on etsy. Each wing had a 1/2" wire at the center for attaching. It took me a little while to figure out how I was going to attach them. Using a small jointing disc, I put both wires through the hole then bent the wires down. To make sure they didn't rotate, I put epoxy glue on the wires and disc. The disc was then inserted into the back seam and the seam sewed shut. I had a lot of fun looking through the bead catalog to find the perfect ones for her "crown".
There has only been time to sew at night because during the day for the last 2 weeks I have been going through my book inventory. I had high hopes when I purchased the inventory almost 2 1/2 years ago. I was led to believe the income would be much higher than it actually was. Now, with postal rates going up May 1, what little profit there was on book sales has gone down to almost nothing. The books with low values are just going outahere! The inventory, which took up the entire garage, will now only take up 2 walls along the sides. The plan is to have it all gone within a year.
On an upbeat note, another idea for a bear came to me night before last. Some new fabric I purchased on Tuesday sparked the idea but she sorta came together right before I fell asleep that night.

Snow Fairy

This week my pretty pink Snow Fairy is on Bid 4 Bears. The really neat retro looking pink snowflake print was the inspiration for her. I'm sooo tickled with the way she turned out I don't think I'll mind if she doesn't sell. Her crown and wand are made with tinsel pipe cleaners. I think the "aluminum look" adds to the retro feel. The snowflake on the end of her wand came from the scrapbooking aisle at Target. It is the first time I have used "glitz" in needle felting. It wasn't easy-it's like working with very fine tinsel but I'm pleased with the iridescent effect of her nose.This mohair is one of my favorites-I wish it came in more colors. I have dyed the white several colors and have always been pleased with the results. Now it's back to sewing!

My Snow Fairy

I'm really happy with the way this little bear has turned out. I actually started on her several weeks ago. The idea was in my head way before that. My inspiration was actually the fabric used for her skirt. It reminded me a retro Christmas-you know-60's aluminum trees with color wheels. I had the fur, which I think is no longer available in light pink. But there were some supplies needed to complete her that I had to wait on. Her needle felted nose had some irridescent "glitz" added to it. The snowflake on the end of her wand came from the scrapbooking section in Target. Then I needed some irridescent ribbon for her wings. She might get listed on Bid 4 Bears after Halloween but I might have trouble parting with this one.
