100 Best Bear Artist Blogs

You might notice a new link in the right hand column of my blog. Paula of All Bear started a site where Bear Artist blogs are ranked. The ranking system is based on the number of arrivals from the link and clicks out from the list. I don't think of it as a competition to get ranked higher but a one stop place to connect blogs of bear artists. We try to link to each other blogs but this might be more efficient. So check it out.
I am still working on bears for the Tampa show, February 22. I also finished a bear for a Teddy Talk swap. I just need to add a little something around his neck. Then my partner, Andrea, and I will coordinate sending our bears to each other. I will post pics when we have swapped.

Tagged- 6 random things about me

Well, I have been tagged by Teddies by Laura Lynn, who is up in the ridiculously cold Chicago area. It took me awhile to come up with that many (sort of) interesting things about myself. Here goes...
1. I worked as an accountant(in another lifetime).
2. I was a Licensed Veterinary Technician in Virginia.
3. I was a Dachshund breeder for 25 years.
4. My mother had a wonderful green thumb and I can't grow anything.
5. I love the beach!
6. I think the worse thing about getting older is needing reading glasses.

If you are on the list below you have been tagged to write 6 random things about you.
La De Da" Bears
Fenbeary Folk
Sudey Babes
Viv out on a Whim
Swan Valley Bears
THE RULES (for this game of tag):
1. LINK TO THE PERSON WHO TAGGED YOU

2. POST THE RULES ON YOUR BLOG
3. WRITE SIX RANDOM THINGS ABOUT YOURSELF

4. TAG SIX PEOPLE AT THE END OF YOUR POST AND LINK TO THEM
5. LET EACH PERSON KNOW THEY ARE TAGGED AND LEAVE A COMMENT ON THEIR BLOG
6.LET THE TAGGER KNOW WHEN YOUR ENTRY IS UP

7. DON’T BREAK THE CHAIN (not actually a rule)

Keeping warm...

I know I shouldn't complain, even though temps are below normal here in Florida, others are trying to survive record lows. They say after you have lived in a warmer climate for awhile your blood thins. Whatever it is, I know I couldn't take a colder climate. Today it is in the upper 50's here and I am bundled up with a blanket over me while I sew. Since I don't drink coffee, hot cocoa is my drink of choice.
Yesterday was spent cleaning Bill's computer. It's my old one and he mainly plays games on it. The fan was making a lot of noise. First I had to figure out how to open the case. I ended up googling "how to open computer". Then I had to go to the local Walgreen's to get more canned air as the one I had on hand ran out. It's amazing how much dust accumulates in them. It's running quiet now and Bill is happy.
Still working on bears for upcoming shows. I am really pleased with the way these three turned out. They are "Faith, Hope & Love". Faith is done in ivory colored fur. I dyed cream colored fur teal and rose pink for the other two. I think I will put and individual price on each and a group price, if someone wants all three.
Now, I have to load some new software on my computer. I purchased Photoshop Elements from a fellow bear artist who decided not to use it. It will probably take me awhile to figure it out and I may have to take a class. I hope to make my graphics and photos more professional. We'll see...

Too much to do...

I have worked on a few of my year end tasks. There are some things that must be filed by January 20th but I am still avoiding others. Decided to make myself a new purse as I couldn't find one I liked or could afford. Walmart has this vinyl fabric that looks like embossed leather. It's not a designer purse but it works for me. All the photos of my bears and critters for the TBACA Valentine Show have been submitted. Now there are several that I want to complete for the Tampa show February 22. Jin(gold in Chinese) will be going to Tampa with me. I purchased a sheet of old photos of children with bears and dolls from KFCollection etsy shop. They arrived in an email. I cropped & saved in my photo program. Jin has the one of an Asian child with a Teddy Bear on his tag. I hope to get some more cats made before Tampa too.
Sometimes I wish life didn't get in the way of Teddy Bear making. We are still waiting on an insurance check so we can get our rental property fixed and re-rented. I am spending too much time on the computer trying to keep up with blogging, facebook, etsy, and flickr.
Time to kick myself in the pants(a real feat) and get back to sewing.
